West Australian Police Pipe Band has been selected to perform in Etihad Stadium Melbourne this weekend as part of the 2016 Royal
Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The band’s drum major Const. Iain Hamilton said it
is a very amazing moment for us because Australia’s only eight pipe bands will
be taking part and it will be televised worldwide, so it is a great honor for
WA Police. Police funerals and graduations, schools and youth centers and other
government agencies invite WAPOL regularly to perform.
The WA Police Pipe Band which is Australia’s Number
One pipe band consists of a mix of WA Police full-time employees and volunteer
guest member descents of Australia, Scotland, Northern Ireland, South Africa
and New Zealand, many of whom are current or former world drum and pipe
champions. WA Police bands Support Association funds WAPOL’s activities and
tours and also special fundraising events held by serving police officers in
their own time provide the necessary means.
